The concept was rather as simple as a mere feeling of recollecting or to evoke memories by returning home, or in other words, a place where the alumnis used to belong. When home is where a person would feel personal about, dwelling on the other hand is a collection of all the spaces which provide different needs of human such as proper relaxation, proper space, physical approach, security, stability of the structure, lighting, ventilation, primary facilities like water, healthcare, and education, garbage evacuation, proper quality of environment and most importantly a suitable place.
Influenced by the idea of a home and dwelling in the concept of “Teratak Kita”, it aims to uplift the sense of community among the people. In which, the attempt was referenced with the old Malay village heritage where community is a fundamental symbol of living among the society. Implemented in the design, spaces that would enhance social interaction among the community such as public cafes, barbeque areas, gathering spaces, a plaza, rental chalets and green areas were introduced. These spaces were carefully arranged based on the existing Malay Village study whilst appreciating the nature and well-built landscapes.
